Success Stories

A leaking tub, a rotting deck, a dated kitchen. Every home we work on has a story. These case studies show the problems our clients brought us and how we solved them, from demolition to the final walkthrough.

Porch Ceiling Renovation Project

The Problem

The screen porch ceiling had been replaced with an "outdoor-rated" gypsum product in the last 10 years. Humidity and exposure to the outdoors were taking a toll, and the work was showing signs of aging poorly: peeling paint and drywall compound, dirt, discoloration, etc. The problems were compounded in the skylight wells, which acted as moisture/condensation centers.

The Solution

As part of a list of wider-ranging repairs and maintenance performed on the home, we installed tongue-and-groove wood ceiling and skylight well paneleing. When installing painted tongue and groove, it is important to pre-finish the tongues of the material so that as the wood shrinks and swells with changes in humidity, newly exposed unpainted surfaces on the tongues don't create unsightly lines between the boards. The crown, fans, and speakers were removed; 1x sleepers installed, T&G boards installed, crown and electrical devices reinstalled, and all repainted for a beautiful, durable, and wipeable finished ceiling.

Plumbing Leak, Damaged Bathroom Renovation

The Problem

A tub leak triggered this long-wished-for bathroom renovation (plus the ceiling and lighting reconfiguration in the entry foyer below). An end wall on the tub and badly arranged layout made this room seem extra dark and cramped. B Three was able to connect the client with Gilman Restoration for water and mold remediation services and to start the tear-out process.

The Solution

Reworking the layout and plumbing in this room allowed for a wider vanity in this shared bathroom. Also, a corner bathtub with a skirted high end allowed for the removal of the wing wall, really opening up the space.

Kitchen Renovation & Housewide Improvements

The Problem

Our Client wanted to modernize and brighten up the Kitchen, Wet Bar, and Laundry without complete replacement of cabinetry. Other work was needed around the house as well.

The Solution

Carefull Demolition of the floors and countertops was needed to prevent damage to the cabinetry. The existing cabinets were repaired, hardware updated, and even a full replacement of the sink base was completed. Electrical and lighting modernizations including undercabinet led strip lighting were made. Drywall repairs were performed, including removal of the heavy wall texture, and skim coats for a final smooth surface were applied to the walls. New flooring was installed with all required trim. Countertops fabricated off site were brought in and installed. Backsplashes were installed next. New Appliances, sinks and plumbing fixtures followed. Everything was painted for a fresh complete look. Additionally around the house, new door hardware was installed, door adjustments were made, and new wide shutters were installed in the master bedroom.

Deck conversion to Sunroom

The Problem

This older open deck with deteriorating boards required repairs, but the homeowners really wanted an enclosed space for all-weather enjoyment, shade, and indoor gardening. A smaller open porch portion was still required for grilling and as a transtion space from the backyard to the indoors.

The Solution

Demolition of the rotting wood and railings from the deck. Adjustment of the framing in place by squaring up the corners, adding additional bearing footings, and adjusting the furure interior floor height to match the house's floor. Installation of an Aluminum Wall and Ceiling system enclosure with lots of windows and a large sliding glass door. Addition of electrical floor outlets, lighting and a fan. Installation of new Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring. Installation of new Trex Decking, Band Boards, Railing, Treads, Risers and Stringers.
