Rogers grew up in Easley SC. He graduated with a BA in Architecture from Clemson University in 1958 and a MA in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania (Kahn Studio) in 1962. He worked as a designer in Memphis TN, Charleston SC, and Philadelphia PA. From 1962-1971 he had his own firm in Easley SC. From 1971 to 1984 he was Principal and Director of Design at Six Associates in Asheville NC. From 1984 to 2010 he ran John Rogers Associates / Rogers Dameron Associates / Rogers Chenevert Associates in Asheville.
